Viral Specimen Genotyping

We have been working on animal viruses for more than a decade, ranging from complete viral genome sequencing and molecular epidemiology, to virus-host interactions and vaccine development. Our team is experienced in analysing both DNA and RNA viruses, not only on its primary genomic sequence, but we also focus on its transmission and evolutionary trend. Principly we employ Applied Biosystems 3130xL for the basic viral genotyping with PCR/ RT-PCR associated Sanger sequencing, but we highly recommend using NGS for complete viral genome sequencing to achieve the highest accurarcy on viral classification.

Our works on SARS-CoV complete genome sequencing - HK-39 strian, the CoV strain isolated from one of the earliest Hong Kong patients with SARS. The entire sequencing work was performed on Applied Biosystem 3100 platform.
